In 2017, suicide was the second leading cause of death for African Americans, aged 15 to 24. African American men, specifically, were more than four times more likely than African American women to take their own lives.

In 2018, however, studies show that only 8.7% of African Americans over the age of 18 received mental health services within that year, compared to 18.6% of White Americans (see more here: https://minorityhealth.hhs.gov/omh/browse.aspx?lvl=4&lvlid=24)
